India marked its 80th Independence Day on Saturday, August 15, 2026. It marked an end to about 200 years of British rule in India.
The process of attaining independence in India was achieved through prolonged struggle for freedom. The masses participated under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi.
The Mountbatten plan of partition was accepted by the British Government in 1947 when it found it impossible to retain India due to growing communal conflicts.
The Indian Independence Act, 1947 was enacted by the British Parliament according to which there would be two independent dominions—India and Pakistan.
The transfer of power took place on the midnight of 14 and15 August 1947.
To commemorate this day, VSVN Polytechnic college celebrated the 80th Independence Day onAugust 15, 2026 Saturday at Administrative block from 7.35 am to 8 30am .
The Management Board members, teaching and Non teaching staff members and students are participated in the programme.The program started with Prayer.
